WWJD? Spread some hate!

I found this site while surfing the conservative blogosphere. On it, I found a link to this book Politically Incorrect Guide to Islam (and the Crusades), which promotes the following points:
You think you know about Islam. But did you know...
  • Islam teaches that Muslims must wage war to impose Islamic law on non-Muslim states
  • American Muslim groups are engaged in a huge cover-up of Islamic doctrine and history
  • Today's jihad terrorists have the same motives and goals as the Muslims who fought the Crusaders
  • The Crusades were defensive conflicts Muslim persecution of Christians has continued for 13 centuries–and still goes on...
When PC (politically correct) propagandists assure us that jihadist terror doesn't reflect "true," "peaceful" Islam, they're not only wrong, they're dangerous -- because they lull America and the West into letting their guard down against their mortal enemy. And not only do self-appointed "experts" lie elaborately and persistently about Islam -- they have also replaced the truth about Christian Europe and the Crusades with an all-pervasive historical fantasy that is designed to make you ashamed of your own culture and heritage -- and thus less determined to defend it.
I didn't know that all Muslims carried around AK-47s. Not only does this fly in the face of historical fact, but promotes the outright hatred of Muslims. When will the religious right come to grips with reality and stop spewing political propaganda. From American Vision's about us page:
For the past 25 years, American Vision has produced hundreds of educational resources designed to help Christians build a biblical worldview and reclaim the culture for Christ.
Hmm, I'm far from a devout Christian, but I never heard of Jesus professing such hate for others, especially hate based on such obvious and insulting lies. This just sickens me.

I have actually read that book - it is really good. All the points you mentioned, that the book covers, are indeed accurate. If you look at the Koran (which i did) the quotes the author pulls are accurate, and they are not taken out of context. Further, and historical data (i.e. the Crusades are also acurate if you consult a local history book on the subject. Before making unwarrnated conclusions, read the book, look at the footnotes they are backed up with facts

This is why I stay away from the murkier bits of blogworld. This stuff does my head in.

The Crusades were defensive conflicts

Now I've heard it all. Next week: how 2+2 really does make 5.

Jesus is an American!

I've actually lowered my stress level by not reading those types of things anymore. My blood pressure was through the roof when I was looking through those kinds of sites, and I'm only 28. Now, I'll just stick to the more temperate sites if I need a rightwing opinion, like Instapundit, for example. At least that guy is somewhat sane.

p.s. Did you notice how Bushie referred to the Crusades in his propaganda speech on Thursday?

clio - so i guess that my muslim friends who don't go around killing americans and christians are just lying to themselves?

and seriously, i could pull some incredibly offensive quotes from the bible to justify slavery, genocide, polygamy, etc.

jaded - read the book, then make a comment. In fact go to amazon, check out its ranking and reviews.

the fact that you mentioned the bible is amusing (im jewish by the way)

Obviously, by muslims, the author is reffering to those arabs who kill in the name of allah, particurlarly there own people and governments - and muslims who would like nothing more but convert, err, kill western societies for based on OUR freedom of religions, press, speech, culture, everything that they are not.

Of course as most left wings radicals like yourself (i've read enough of you "rantings" to decipher that) you will find a way to blame americans for the catalyst as to why arabs want to kill us.

Unfortanetly, arab world muslims have hated the american way before we were even born, and I think it is unfair for you to blame this government (which you have) for provoking muslim resentment.

I do agree, however, that it is good to question our countries motives and policies that anger the middle east. Fine.

If you read and listen to sermons by imams in Iran, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Palestine, Lybia, you will here that there is much more resentment to our way of life than americas policies. They hate that we represent all of the things they are not. They disrespect ALL women, there is no freedom of speech, no freedom of religion, inter-racial marriage is unheard of - they live in the 16th century.

Hey, if they want to live like that, go ahead.

I guess my point is, talk the talk about convincing the other side and the "non-believers" as you like to call it. How about you swallow your own medicine. How about you read the book. Of course all religion has horrible parts of their past, we now that. However, the main stream media really doesn't want to tell you about islam's torrid past. Why? Pehaps they will be called racist. Or, perhaps they will cause uproar among the muslim community. The fact is - this book was filled with information I never read before and I found it very interesting. The author has a phd of history from Columbia - another liberal haven.

Check it out!!!!

I do read, and have read a great deal of literature that opposes my political philosophy, and I do not need to defend myself regarding that point. You don't know me, so don't judge me or my education.

I am far from radical. What have I said that would warrant such a title?

I mentioned the bible not because I was making an assumption about you, but because the site that I found selling the book calls itself Christian.

It would obviously be silly of me to defend those members of the radical, militant Muslim community. Their tactics and rhetoric is despicable, and I call them "radical" because they are not mainstream. This was the main point of my post, which you seem to have missed. Most Muslims do not hate us. I have lived with and am good friends with many of these people. Take these two bullet points used to advertise this book, which I consider hateful propaganda:

"Islam teaches that Muslims must wage war to impose Islamic law on non-Muslim states" - I could just as easily find quotes from the bible and replace "Islam" and "Muslim" with either Judaism or Christianity.

"American Muslim groups are engaged in a huge cover-up of Islamic doctrine and history " - this is simply not true. American Muslims are struggling to teach other Americans about the Muslim doctrine.

The site offers this further: "When PC (politically correct) propagandists assure us that jihadist terror doesn't reflect "true," "peaceful" Islam, they're not only wrong, they're dangerous -- because they lull America and the West into letting their guard down against their mortal enemy." - this is just plain hate. Islam is America's mortal enemy? That's just absurd.

I haven't read the book, but from how I have seen it promoted on this site, it looks to be hateful propaganda with the purpose of generalizing about the Muslim community, even those living and serving peacefully in this nation and throughout the world.

This is more of an afterthought, but to say that the radical Christian right in this country does not wish hateful things upon those with opposing views is also silly. Look at Pat Robertson's call for the assassination of Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez, and the many others who called Katrina an act of god cleansing a city of sinners.
